One day an ogimaa told Josephine Mandamin, “In my lifetime, the day will come when an ounce of water costs more than an ounce of gold” and asked her, “What are you going to do about it?”  Her response was to gather a group of women and form the Mother Earth Water Walkers.

The Water Walker tells the story of Josephine Mandamin and the Mother Earth Water Walkers through a child’s perspective.  The colourful illustrations and engaging text celebrate the activism of the water walkers and inspire readers to take action to protect our water.
